Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Rhombus maximus View in CoL , L. by Gruvel (1931: 83).

Distribution. Baltic Sea, North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Sea of Marmara, northeastern Atlantic: Norway south to Western Sahara.

Conservation. IUCN: Global (NE); Med. (NT: 28 February 2008). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Unknown. Low priority for conservation action.

Remarks. This record from Gruvel could be considered as doubtful.
