Diagnosis

Body coloration reddish­brown, maculate dorsally with black and pale yellow pubescence. Head with antennae clothed with minute brown pubescence, segments three to eleven apically annulated with darker pubescence. Pronotum broad, obtusely angulated laterally, 1.6 times broader across lateral angulations than long; clothed with reddishbrown and pale yellow pubescence, vaguely arrayed in lines across the disk. Scutellum ligulate, rounded apically; clothed with blackish pubescence. Elytra 1.6 times longer than broad; disk closely, moderately coarsely punctate, becoming smaller and less dense apically; apex emarginate, with sutural margin rounded and external margin acute; clothed with reddish­brown and pinkish­brown pubescence, with a dark triangular post­scutellar common macula extending across the suture, margined behind with yellow pubescence, and two large, dark lateral maculae, sub­triangular in outline, extending along the lateral margins from the basal one­fourth to the apical one­fourth, and extending diagonally toward the suture at the apical one­fourth, narrowly margined on discal portion with yellow pubescence, and a pair of rounded yellowish maculae on either side of the suture before apex; femora dark basally, lighter at apex, tibiae red­brown basally. Length: “3 3/4 lin.” ( Bates 1885).

Remarks

This species is known to us only by a photograph (provided by S. Lingafelter, USNM) of a specimen from Bolivia (Yungas de La Paz) in the collection of the Museu Nacional, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the type locality is given as “ Bolivia, prov. Yungas” ( Bates 1885).
