Diagnosis
Body dark redbrown to piceous, patterned dorsally with yellow, brown and black appressed pubescence; dorsal pattern ornate, clearly defined, head, sides of pronotum yellow, median portion of pronotal disk dark brown, elytra with humeral fasciae, small discal and sutural maculae, a subapical broad, irregular transverse fascia, and small apical maculae yellow, remainder of disk dark brown; small maculae at sides of scutellum blackish; an irregular macula within the subapical yellow fascia and area behind subapical fascia, black. Pronotal disk feebly flattened or impressed medially, lateral tubercles very broadly rounded, a narrow line of small punctures present in basal constriction. Scutellum narrowly ligulate, black pubescent. Elytra 1.5 times longer than broad; apex emarginate, with sutural margin rounded and outer angle prolonged laterally, acutely dentate. Femora dark brown and piceous, thinly palepubescent; tibiae piceous, annulated on basal onethird with yellow pubescence. Underside dark brown to piceous, thinly pale pubescent. Length: 7.0–11.0 mm.
Remarks
Ranging from Guatemala to Panama, S. laetabilis most commonly occurs in lowland rain forest and midelevation moist forest habitats. Our characterization is based upon series of specimens from multiple localities in Costa Rica and Panama.
