Genus Phagomyia Edwards [= Aedes (Finlaya) ]
gubernatoris View in CoL subspecies kotiensis View in CoL ( Aedes gubernatoris View in CoL var. kotiensis Barraud, 1934 ). Syntypes (Ψ, ♂): Koti, near Kalka, [Himachal Pradesh], western Himalayas, India (BM).
Barraud (1934) described and named Aedes gubernatoris View in CoL var. kotiensis based on larvae that differ from the nominotypical form in having shorter antennae and lateral palatal brush filaments with “comparatively very large teeth”. Information provided by Barraud indicates that the two forms may be allopatric. In any case, there is no indication in the original description that Barraud considered kotiensis View in CoL to be an infrasubspecific entity; hence, it is accordingly deemed to be subspecific in agreement with Article 45.6.4 of the Code.
