Tambana fansipana sp. n.

( Figs 44 View FIGURES 41 – 46 , 121 View FIGURES 118 – 123 )

Type material. Holotype. NORTH VIETNAM: female Prov. Lao Cai, Mt. Fan-si-Pan, Cha-Pa, 2400 m, 22°250′N, 103°766′E, local collector leg., v.2005, slide GB7402 female, coll. GB/ ZSM, BC ZSM Lep 48895.

Note. The specimen labelled as BC ZSM Lep 48895 has been used for barcoding. Molecular distance based on the Kimura two-parameter model for COI DNA barcodes between T. fansipana and the nearest species T. laura is 5,44%; the distance between T. fansipana and T. helmuti is 7,68%, between T. fansipana and T. mekonga is 6,78%; between T. fansipana and T. xilinga is 7,47%.

Diagnosis. The new species externally is similar to T. helmuti but differs from the later by more blackish shade of wing colouration, more distinct orbicular stigma, thin, dentate postmedial line an wider semilunar streaks of terminal line and by forewing with broader, darker and well defined terminal band. The new species well separated from its allies by the differences in their DNA barcodes.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 41 – 46 ). Wingspan 52 mm. Head, whitish-grey, thorax blackish-brown, tegulae and patagia blackish, with white bordering. Forewing ground colour dark blackish-brown and whitish dusting, more expressed in the medial field; crosslines black, twin; basal line represented as short black dashes; antemedial line strongly dentate, black, outlined inwardly with whitish suffusion; orbicular small, well defined, encircled with black; medial shadow wide, diffused, black; reniform brown, outlined inwardly with black; pale whitish-brown suffusion lies outward reniform to antemedial line; postmedial line thin, dentate, black with whitish bordering outside; subterminal field filled with black dashes; terminal field brown; terminal line separated for row of welldefined blackish semilunar streaks, outlined outwardly with thin pale line; cilia greyish-brown, paler opposite veins. Hindwing yellow basally, with wide, around one fours of wing greyish-brown terminal band; cilia greyishbrown, pale opposite veins.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 121 View FIGURES 118 – 123 ). The female genitalia of T. fansipana characterised by unexpressed antrum, long heavily sclerotised and ribbed ductus bursae and wide shape of corpus bursae. 8th segment very large, with deep central cut. Ovipositor quadrangular, papillae anales moderate broad; anterior apophyses broad and short, posterior apophyses weak and short; antrum not expressed; ductus bursae long, sclerotised, ribbed, corpus bursae rounded, with wide rounded lateral extension in joining with ductus.

Male unknown.

Etymology. The species named by its type-locality, Fan-si-Pan Mts in North Vietnam.

Distribution and bionomy. North Vietnam (Prov. Lao Cai, Mt. Fan-si-Pan Mts). The species was collected in May, at elevation 2400 m.
