Panthea ronnyi Thöny, 1996 , Facetta, 13(2): 33, Pl. 1: 4. Type-locality: Vietnam, Fan Si Pan, 1500 m. Holotype: male, coll. Thöny, Camacan, Brazil, later ZSM, Munich.

References. Speidel & Kononenko 1998: 554, Pl. T: 15 ( Tambana ).

Material examined. Types. Holotype (examined by photo) and paratype of Panthea ronnyi Thöny ; paratype: VIETNAM: 1 male, Tonkin, Fan-si-Pan, 1500 m, 7.iii.1995 (Chapa, secondary forest, culture land, 22°20′N, 103°40′E), Brechlin R. leg., slide GB7707 male, coll. GB/ ZSM.

Diagnosis. Adult (Fig. 48). Wingspan 40 mm. Easy identifiable species, with external appearance atypical for Tambana . Ground colour of forewing white with intensive dusting of black and grey scales, wing pattern formed by blackish lines and white spots; basal field with white dash crossed by basal antemedial line thin, black; orbicular as white spot encircled by black; medial shadow thin, black; reniform small, typical shale, outlined with black, joined with large white spot extending from reniform to postmedial line and costal margin; postmedial line black, deeply curved inward; subterminal line and subterminal field black with large white spots; terminal line as a row of vertical black streaks, cilia blackish-grey, white opposite veins; hindwing white, with little blackish dusting along terminal margin and blackish tornal spot; terminal line blackish; cilia white with black.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 108 View FIGURES 107 – 109 ). By structure of the male genitalia the species resembles those of T. xilinga and T. mekonga , but differs by structure of uncus, shape of valva, shape of aedeagus and by arming of the vesica. Uncus moderate in length, straight, with diamond-shaped tip; tegumen broad, somewhat shorter than vinculum, without penicular extensions; vinculum V-shaped; transtilla with narrow leave-like lobes; juxta shield-like, broad; valva moderate large, basally with parallel margins, roundly constricted apically, with acute apex; harpe moderate, straight, slightly curved. Aedeagus thick, straight, with carina armed with prominent sclerotised scobinate comb; vesica broadly-tubular with subapical patch of moderate cornuti and long row of cornuti.

Female unknown.

Distribution and bionomy. North Vietnam (Prov. Lao Cai, Tonkin, Mt. Fan-si-Pan). The species was collected in March in the secondary forest at elevation 1500 m.
