Distribution in mainland China: FJ, GD, GX, SC, YN ( Chu & Zhang 1997), new record to JX #, Ganzhou, Chongyi, 25°28.47’N 114°06.10’E, bred from Acer oliveruanum , 28.vi.2018, L.Y. Liu (4) (LLY).

Other distribution. India, Nepal, Burma, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Hainan, Taiwan, New Guinea, Philippines, Oceania, New Caledonia, Comoros, Mauritius, R é union, Madagascar and introduced to Africa, South America and USA ( Chu & Zhang 1997; Liu & Beaver 2018).

Biology. The species is polyphagous ( Beeson & Bhatia 1937). The biology of the closely related species, Xylopsocus bicuspis Lesne is described by Liu et al. (2008b), and is likely to be typical for all the Xylopsocus species considered here.
