Discussion: For placement in Crocidurinae see Repenning (1967:15). Genetic data place Scutisorex next to Sylvisorex (Querouil et al., 2001) . The unique vertebrate column ( Ahmed and Klima, 1978) and a characteristic skull roof distinguish the genus, however.
