Commelina quitensis Bentham (1846b: 258–259) View in CoL
Type (lectotype, designated here):— ECUADOR. PICHINCHA: Puente de Guapulo prope Quito, alt. 8000 ft., s.d., K. T. Hartweg 1439 ( K barcode 000531988!; isolectotype K barcode 000531987!). Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 .
Notes:—The protologue of Commelina quitensis provided the following information on the locus classicus: “Ad pontem Guapulo, juxta Quito”. I was able to locate two specimens at K (barcodes 000531987 and 000531988) that are original material for this name, both of which are in accordance with the morphological information provided in the protologue. All things considered, I designate the specimen K barcode 000531988 ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ) as lectotype of C. quitensis , because this specimen is indicated as having belonged to the Bentham herbarium. This species was described from Ecuador, and to this date its distribution and conservation status are not clear, thus warranting urgent taxonomic studies.
