NOTES: Lister (1911: 56–57) commented “This variety has now been obtained from the West Indies, from Ceylon, and several times from Japan ”, and in the list of material studied although no particular collection is mentioned for the variety, Ceylon (K 1420) and Japan (BM 1989) are listed. There is a reference to Minakata (Bot. Mag. Tokyo 12: 318. 1908) in the description, but Kumagusu Minakata did not make the descriptions. The text is in Japanese and the translation is as follows “ P. viride Pers. var. rigidum List. , Nov. Var. Tanabe [Localty in Wakayama Pref.], Inari [Locality in Wakayama Pref.], Ceylon ”. In BM we did not locate BM 1989 but there are 6 boxes of Minakata’s (KM. 50, KM. 51, KM. 119, KM. 165, KM. 267, KM. 268) with the variety name . We designate KM 51 as the lectotype as it is in good condition and has a reference to notes in notebook XXV: 11 (K.M. 51, Myc. 103, 22.6.06). The other collections have notes in the following notebooks XXV: 9–10 (KM 50, Myc. 120, 8.7.05), XXV: 12 (KM 52, Myc. 106, 28.6.06), XXVII: 45, XXVIII: 115, XXX: 135 and XXX: 134. Gulielma Lister herself raised this variety rigidum (with rigid capillitium) to species rank in the 3rd edition of the monograph ( Lister, 1925) .
