Syntypus: U.S.A. Philadelphia, 1887, G.A. Rex (two slides L:B.M.12!, a dry mount engraved 37, BM001089950 , and slide engraved 38, BM001089951 ) .

NOTES: Lister (1925: 30) commented “These beautiful forms were found by Mr. Hugo Bilgram near Philadelphia; they present further examples of the colour varieties occurring in the P. globuliferum series.”. In BM no obvious type material was located. There are two slides with reference “L:B.M.12 Physarum globuliferum Pers., Philadelphia , leg. G.A. Rex , 1887”, one is a dry mount with fragments of substrate and sporocarps, engraved 37 , BM001089950 , the other a prepared microscope slide, engraved 38, BM001089951 .
