EURYPYLUS LINNAEUS OF CRAMER, 1777

Pap[ilio] Eq[ues] Achiv[us] eurypylus, Cramer, 1777: 38 , 148 [as ‘ euripilus ’] pl.122, figs B, C [original plate 99, B, B]. ‘Isle d’Amboine’ [= Indonesia, Ambon] (Willem V, Prince of Orange and Nassau).

Material examined. No potential Cramer specimens located.

Identity. Graphium (s.s.) eurypylus (Linnaeus, 1758) .

Pap[ilio] Eq[ues] Achiv[us] gambrisius Cramer, 1777: 95 , 149, pl.157, figs A, B [original plate 122, figs D, D]. ‘Isle d’Amboine’ [= Indonesia, Ambon] (illustration shows a male; a female was stated to be in the collection of J.J.Chatelain).

Papilio Eques View in CoL Trojanus gambrisius, Stoll, 1782b: 2 [No. 12].

Material examined. Syntype ♂ ‘Type Cramer coll Lennep’ in the same unknown hand as label on specimen of Papilio drusius Cramer ( BMNH (E)#665001) and printed Felder label ‘ Gambrisius Cr. ’ is quite a good match of original plate 122, figs D, D; the thorax is damaged but possibly retains the original pin; there are several repairs to the wings (see also drusius above).

Current status. Valid species in Papilio (Menelaides) ( Häuser et al., 2003) .
