Pap[ilio] Dan[aus] Cand[idus] aenippe, Cramer, 1777: 95 , pl.157, figs C, D [original plate 128, figs C, C]. China and Java (figured specimen from coll. Baron Rengers). Described as the male of Papilio aenippe Cramer, 1777 [misidentification, illustration shows the Javan Ixias venilia (Godart) ].

Pap[ilio] Dan[aus] Cand[idus] aenippe, Cramer, 1779: 63 , pl.229, figs B, C [original plate 198, figs B, B]. China; ‘Côte de Coromandel’ [= south-eastern India] (Baron Rengers).

Material examined. No potential Cramer specimens located.

Current status. Junior subjective synonym of Ixias p. pyrene (Linnaeus, 1764) ( Yata, 1981) .
