Type species. Cicada maculipennis de Laport 1832: 412 View in CoL ( French Guiana).

Remarks. The genus is distributed over Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Panama, and Peru ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2011b; 2013).
