Common name: Pr: Kalashpa, Shebeh Sardine, Mahi Sim Nama, En: Bream-Like.
Diagnosis: A compressed and deep body with moderate size, relatively small scales with reduced numbers of radii, a fleshy keel between the base of the pelvic and anal fins, the last unbranched dorsal fin ray is thickened, spine-like and smooth, and the anal fin is long (13–17 branched rays). Pharyngeal teeth are usually in a single row on each arch. The overall color is silvery to whitish with the head and back reddishbrown.
Meristic characters: D: III 7–8, A: III 13–17, P: 13–18, V: 7–9, GR: 12–17, LL: 54–63, TV: 38–43.
Distribution: Tigris basin ( Fig. 192). Found in upper reaches of the Tigris River basin including Gamasiab, Qara Su and Dinevar Rivers. ( Coad 2017) reported this species in Hor Al Azim Wetland but there is no more reports of this species occurring in southern parts of Tigris basin.
