Cyprinion macrostomus Heckel View in CoL [J. J.] 1843: 1065 [75]; Type locality: Aleppo, Syria or Mosul, Iraq. Lectotype: NMW 52805–1. Paralectotypes: NMW 52503 (1, dry), 52805–06 (4, 4); RMNH 2487 [ex NMW] (1), 2488 [ex NMW] (1); SMF 870 [ex NMW in 1843] (1).
Cyprinion neglectus Heckel [J. J.] 1847: 223; Type locality: Tigris River near Mosul, Iraq. Syntypes: NMW 52807 (7).
Common name: Pr: Butak-e dehan bozorg, Lotak-e dahan bozorg, Zanboor, En: Largemouth lotak.
Diagnosis: Straight and large mouth and a longer and more coiled intestine.
Meristic characters: D: IV 12–16, A: III 6–7, P: 14–17, V: 7–9, GR: 13–21, LL: 33–45, TV: 37–40.
Distribution: Tigris basin ( Fig. 108). A widespread species which is found in many streams and rivers in the Tigris basin.
Taxonomy: Correct type locality is unknown.
Conservation: IUCN: Least Concern ( Freyhof 2014m).
