Paraschistura hormuzensis Freyhof View in CoL [J.], Sayyadzadeh [G.], Esmaeili [H. R.] & Geiger [M. F.] 2015: 28; Type locality: Hormozgan Province, Rudan River at Abnama bridge, a tributary of Minab River, 27°28'24"N, 57°15'14"E, Iran. Holotype: ZM-CBSU J3168. Paratypes: FSJF 2217 (40), ZM-CBSU J3169 (77).
Common name: Pr: Loch-e Hormuz, Sagmahi-e
Hormuz, En: Hormuz loach.
Diagnosis: Similar to P. bampurensis but P. hormuzensis has 7–10 dark brown bars on the flank, the pelvic fin reaching to or beyond the anus, to the anal fin origin in some, body fully covered by scales, stout and deep body (bod depth at dorsal fin origin 13–18% SL), absence of a dorsal adipose crest and an incomplete lateral line.
Meristic characters: D: 7, A: 5, P: 10, V: 7, LL: incomplete, reaching to a point slightly in front of dorsal fin origin or below dorsal fin base, SC: whole body except on back in front of dorsal fin and belly, DP: small and pointed, PA: present, SOG: present.
Distribution: Makran basin ( Fig. 366). Found in Minab and Rudan Rivers.
Taxonomy.
Conservation: IUCN: Not Evaluated, PC: Endangered B2ab(i,ii,iii). This species occurs in less than five localities across its distribution range which is highly affected by drought, pollution and water extraction for agricultural use. The total area of occupancy of this species is less than 500 km 2 and a very severe decline extent of occurrence and area of occupancy. Therefore, we classified it as Endangered.
