Salvelinus fontinalis was previously reported from Iran ( Coad 2015). A private hatchery on the Jajrud lost about one million fingerling size in a flood in 1968. However, the fish failed to establish a breeding population in the Jajrud River. Records from the Sardab and Chalus rivers of the Caspian Sea basin ( Coad 2015) are possibly misidentifications of Oncorhynchus mykiss because in several extensive expeditions we did not find any individual of this species.
