Genus Sabanejewia Vladykov, 1929

Abdoli (2000) reported S. caucasica from the Anzali Wetland, Sefidrud, Toenkabon, Chalus, Haraz and Babol Rivers in Iran and Kottelat and Freyhof (2007) reported it from the southern Caspian Sea, but these reports are misidentifications of C. saniae and C. faridpaki (see Eagderi et al. 2017c; Jouladeh-Roudbar et al. 2017b). It seems that the distribution of this species is restricted to the northern Transcaucasus and it is not found in Iran.
