Material examined. PG: 1 male ( ZUTC 6681 ), Abu-Musa I., on dead coral, Coll. A. Dehghani, 10 May 2016 .

Distribution. Indo-West Pacific: from Red Sea, PG, and India to the Philippines.

Regional records. PG: Iran (present study).

Habitat. In dead coral heads and live sponges; from lower intertidal to over 3 m.

Remarks. Alpheus pachychirus seems to be either a morphologically variable species or a species complex ( Anker & De Grave, 2016). Therefore, there is a need for special taxonomic treatment using diverse character analyses.
