Icaleptes Kury & Pérez-González, 2002 View in CoL
Icaleptes Kury & Pérez-González, 2002: 4–6 View in CoL ; Cruz-López, Monjaraz-Ruedas, Colmenares &
Francke, 2021: 493–513; Kury, García & Ahumada-C., 2023: 37–45.
Type species. Icaleptes malkini Kury & Pérez-González, 2002 View in CoL , by original designation.
Included species. Icaleptes malkini Kury & Pérez-González, 2002 View in CoL ; Icaleptes dimorphicus sp. nov.; and Icaleptes armasi sp. nov.
Emended diagnosis. Icaleptes View in CoL can be differentiated from Zalmopsylla View in CoL by the male lacking the sulci of the scutum magnum; large coxa IV occupying the middle third of the mesotergum; coxa IV with huge ventral protuberances (except in I. malkini View in CoL ), located around or very close to the genital operculum; femur IV barely armed, with only a few distal retrolateral pointed tubercles; and the two proximal basitarsomeres of leg III fused and slightly enlarged. In the male genitalia of Icaleptes View in CoL , the capsula externa is modified into a robust stragulum with two widely, but not entirely, separated apical lobes. This allows visualization of the wide capsula interna with a well-developed parastylar collar in dorsal view. In contrast, Zalmopsylla View in CoL has the capsula externa modified into a stragulum with a bulbous base, projected into a powerful sclerite with two expanded branches (left and right) running close alongside each other, completely concealing the capsula interna in dorsal view. The ventral plate of the penis in Icaleptes View in CoL may be entire or differentiated into a basal wide pergula and an apical short and stout rutrum, whereas in Zalmopsylla View in CoL , the ventral plate has a subapical constriction, is expanded into left and right apical lobes and has a pointed median apex.
Distribution. COLOMBIA, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Departments of Cesar (Sebastian de Rábago) and Magdalena (Santa Marta and Ciénaga).
