Torodora semnodora (Meyrick, 1933) View in CoL , comb. nov.
( Figs. 12 View FIGURE 12 A–I)
Lecithocera semnodora Meyrick, 1933 . Exotic Microlepidoptera 4: 357.
Material examined. 1♂ (lectotype, designated here), Musée Du Congo, [Katanga], Kapiri , ix.1912, Miss. Agric.; R. DÉT i 2247; M217, gen. slide no. CIS-7140/ Park, in RMCA ; 1♂, Katentania , 15.xi.1933, [Katanga], Elisabethville [Lubumbashi], Ch. Seydel; R. DÉT, E2820 ; M2304, gen. slide no. CIS-7138/ Park, in RMCA .
Diagnosis. Male ( Figs. 12A, C View FIGURE 12 ). Wingspan 20–22 mm. This species is characterized by having a small orangewhite costal patch beyond 2/3 of costa on the forewing. The wing venation and the male genital characters match well to the genus Torodora .
Redescription. Abdomen with broad, short spinous zones on tergites ( Fig. 12F View FIGURE 12 ).
Male genitalia. ( Figs. 12D, E View FIGURE 12 ). Uncus elongated, slender, bent downward; apex obtuse. Gnathos broad basally, strongly bent beyond middle. Costal bar lacking median angle. Valva broad basally, with distinct crescent ridge prior to cucullus; costa strongly concave medially; cucullus relatively short, more or less triangular, densely haired on surface; apex obtuse. Juxta broad, with nearly straight caudal margin. Aedeagus shorter than valva, bent medially, more or less bifurcate apically with dorsal and ventral plates separated: dorsal plate with finely serrated margins; ventral plate with numerous pegs broadly scattered; cornutus absent.
Remarks. The species was described based on two males. The specimen, with “TYPE” on red label, is designated as the lectotype of L. semnodora Meyrick, 1933 . The locality and date on the labels are definitely the same as those in its original description as “ Belgian Congo, Kapiri, September (Miss. Agric)”. However, another type specimen with label data, “Katentania, v, leg. Ch. Seydel” is not found in the RMCA. The species does not belong to the genus Lecithocera , according to the genitalia (gen. slide no. CIS-7140/Park), and it is transferred to the genus Torodora Meyrick , T. semnodora (Meyrick, 1933) , comb. nov. A type specimen, with a name “ Lecithocera eugenopa Meyr. ” on the identification label, written by Meyrick himself, in the RMCA ( Figs. 12G, H View FIGURE 12 ), is conspecific with T. semnodora , but “ Lecithocera eugenopa ” should be regarded as an unpublished manuscript name. There are two such type specimens with an identification label “ L. eugenopa Meyr. ” in the RMCA: one of these was dissected and examined (gen. slide no. CIS-7138/Park), and it was revealed as being
conspecific with L. semnodora Meyrick (gen. slide no. 7140/Park). Also the other specimen with label, “ Lecithocera eugenopa Meyr. , Type, (= semnodora Meyr., 1934 ” [sic recte 1933]) ( Fig. 12I View FIGURE 12 ), is the same species. Distribution. DR Congo (Katanga).
