Sorolopha archimedias (Meyrick, 1912) View in CoL

( Figures 2 View FIGURES 2 – 10 , 11 View FIGURES 11 – 18 )

Argyroploce archimedias Meyrick, 1912 , Exotic Microlepid., 1: 63. TL: China ( Hong Kong).

Argyroploce purpurissatana ; Meyrick 1930: 604 (nec Kennel, 1901).

Olethreutes purpurissatana ; Clarke 1958 (nec Kennel, 1901): 540, pl. 269 figs. 4-4a (lectotype design., wing, genit. 3 figured; archimedias Meyrick , syn.). TL: China ( Hong Kong).

Eudemis archimedias ; Falkovitsh 1962: 191.

Eudemis oxygona Diakonoff, 1968 , Bull. U. S. natn. Mus. 257 (1967): 50. TL: Philippine.

Sorolopha archimedias ; Diakonoff 1973: 54, figs. 86, 90 (3, Ƥ genit.).

Diagnosis: Diakonoff (1973) assigned the species to the S. cyclotoma group. Sorolopha archimedias is superficially similar to members of Eudomopsis Falkovitsh, in particular the Palaearctic species E. purpurissatana (Kennel) . However, S. archimedias can be distinguished by the longer, slenderer valva that is broadest at the middle, and the much longer aedeagus. Sorolopha archimedias also is very similar to S. timiochlora Diakonoff in the male genitalia, but S. archimedias can be distinguished from the latter by the absence of the group of stout setae at the angle of sacculus, and the sacculus broader at the middle of the valva.

Specimens examined: 23, Bach ma, Thua Thien Hue province, 18.VI.2004 ( Y.S. Bae).

Host plants: Syzygium sp. (as Eugenia ) ( Myrtaceae ), Cinnamomum sp. ( Lauraceae ), Litsea glutinosa (Lour.)

(Lauraceae) in China (Diakonoff 1973). Cinnamomum camphora (L.) ( Lauraceae ), Syzygium aromaticum (L.) ( Myrtaceae ) in Australia (Horak, 2006).

Distribution: Vietnam, China, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Australia. Remarks: Kuznetsov (1997) recorded this species from Tamdao National Park, Vietnam.
