Genus Tengella Dahl, 1901
Tengella perfuga Dahl, 1901 (Type species). The female holotype should have been deposited in The Berlin Museum, but is lost ( Wolff, 1978; Platnick, 2009). However, Leister et al. (2013) redescribed the female and described the male for the first time based on new specimens collected from Nicaragua.
Diagnosis. Following Leister et al. (2013), the genus differs from other tengellid genera as follows: 1) by the presence of a bipartite cribellum and calamistrum (except the new species described here were both are absent, see description below), 2) four pairs of ventral spines on tibiae I and II (different number on this new species, see description below), 3) males with three teeth on promargin and four on retromargin of each chelicera, 4) three claws and lacking claw tufts, 5) males differ in having a simple RTA on palp, and 5) females with epigynum formed by an enlarged median lobe, and lateral lobes lacking teeth ( Wolff, 1978; Platnick, 2009; Griswold et al., 2005; Leister et al., 2013).
