Type Locality: Russia, S Sakhalin, Shirutoru.

Vernacular Names: Sakhalin Myotis.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Data Deficient.

Discussion: Horácek et al. (2000) suggested that abei might be conspecific with brandtii , but retained these as separate taxa pending additional data.
