3. Amorbia dominica Phillips & Powell , new species

DIAGNOSIS. This species shares several synapomorphies with A. revolutana , A. catarina , and A. productana . Amorbia dominica is distinguished by the presence of differentiated scales on the HW anal area which are curved and darker than the rest of the wing, the absence of a dorsal hump on the second segment of the abdomen, and the sacculus extending beyond the margin of the valva.

DESCRIPTION. MALE. FW length 8.5–9.0 mm (mean = 8.7; n = 4). HEAD: Frons convex, white scaled, vertex scaling in two groups, light brown. Labial palpus 2.0X length of antennal space, brown laterally, paler on inner surface; junction of segments II and III an oblique angle. THORAX: Dorsum smooth scaled, light brown; tegula concolorous with dorsum. FW ground color beige with basal, median, and subterminal anterior fasciae brownish. Costal fold well developed, reaching ca. 0.5 length of FW. HW beige, scales of anal region curved and darker. Rs vein swollen in basal 0.33. ABDOMEN: Lacking dorsal pit and dorsal hump on second segment. Genitalia as in Fig. 64 (slide # JJE14, USNM, Dominica; n = 2). Transtilla narrow in middle, with fine spines. Valva subrectangular. Sacculus well defined, extending beyond margin of valva, without emargination. Aedeagus stout, ca. 0.5X length of valva, bent near middle.

FEMALE. Unknown.

DISTRIBUTION AND BIOLOGY. This species is known only from Dominica ( Fig. 133); it has been collected in March, May, June, and November. The female and immatures are unknown.

ETYMOLOGY. The specific epithet refers to the country of the type locality.
