Diagnosis.

Wingspan: 8–10 mm.

Forewing: narrow, light brown by medial area, rest of wing dark brown.

Transverse lines: brown; terminal line marked by black dots between veins.

Reniform: distinct, whitish grey, outlined by a narrow black line.

Hindwing: unicolorous dark brown with an indistinct black discal spot.

Underside: unicolorous dark brown.

Male genitalia.

Tegumen: narrow.

Vinculum: short, stout.

Saccus: U-shaped, short.

Fultura superior: T-shaped with one narrow arm on each side, fused with upper middle part of tegumen and ventrally broadly with juxta-anellus; each horizontal arm with a prominent, spike-like, dorsoventrally directed process.

Valve: shorter than wide.

Ampulla: almost symmetrical, relatively short, subapically broadest; densely setose with long hair-like setae bent inwards.

Pollex : symmetrical, prominent, almost as long as ampulla, slightly upturned and almost equally broad throughout; subapically densely setose with long, hair-like setae bent inwards.

Digitus: almost symmetrical; relatively short, tapered, directed slightly ventrally, pointed apically.

Juxta-anellus plate: large, higher than wide.

Phallus: long, curved, slightly tapered towards apex; coecum short and narrow.

Vesica: unarmed.

Female genitalia.

7 th abdominal segment: heavily sclerotised, asymmetrical.

Anterior apophyses: length 1½ of posterior apophyses.

Position of ostium bursae: medially in 7 th segment, slightly displaced to left.

Ostium bursae: heavily sclerotised all way round.

Antrum: short, cylindrical, heavily sclerotised.

Ductus bursae: membranous, long, 3 X longer than corpus bursae.

Corpus bursae: globular.

Appendix bursae: arising anteriorly from ductus bursae immediately after antrum.

Differential diagnosis.

P. oculus differs from other species by the almost symmetrical digitus, ampulla, and pollex, the spike-like processes from the fultura superior, the unarmed phallus, and the short cylindrical, heavily sclerotised antrum.
