Pollex (Bilobiana) schintlmeisteri Fibiger, new species

( Plate 8 View PLATE 8 , figure 7; male genit. plate 18, figure 5)

Material examined.

Holotype: male, Indonesia, Seram W, Kamarlan , 0–400 m, 128°38’ E 3°20’ S, 16.i.–2.ii.1986, leg. A. Schintlmeister, genit. prep. 5645 M. Fibiger. Coll. MF, to be deposited in ZMUC. GoogleMaps

Diagnosis.

Wingspan: 10 mm.

Forewing: dark brown.

Transverse lines: black; terminal line marked by black dots between veins.

Reniform: distinct, whitish grey, very small, outlined by black.

Fringes: coloured like subterminal area.

Hindwing: unicolorous dark brown with an indistinct black discal spot.

Underside: unicolorous dark brown.

Male genitalia.

Tegumen: narrow.

Vinculum: short, stout.

Saccus: U-shaped, short.

Fultura superior: U-shaped with long, narrow arms, fused with upper middle part of tegumen and ventrally broadly with juxta-anellus on dorsal left side; a finger-like, apically blunt, ventrally directed process arises medially by fusion with juxta-anellus.

Valve: shorter than wide.

Ampulla: almost symmetrical, very long, bent subbasally, almost equally broad; densely setose with long hairlike setae bent inwards.

Pollex : almost symmetrical, prominent, shorter than ampulla, basally broadest; subapically densely setose with long, hair-like setae bent inwards.

Digitus: almost symmetrical, long, tapered, curved, directed slightly ventrally, apically pointed; right digitus slightly longer.

Juxta-anellus plate: large, higher than wide, hole for phallus positioned ventrally in plate.

Phallus: relatively short, straight, slightly tapered towards apex; broadest by ductus ejaculatorius; coecum short and broad.

Vesica: with a small, curved, pointed cornutus.

Differential diagnosis.

P. schintlmeisteri differs from other species by the almost symmetrical digitus, ampulla, and pollex, the short, finger-like, bent process from fultura superior, close to juxta-anellus, and the straight phallus, armed with a small, curved cornutus.
