Type, octomaculata Enderlein by original designation.

Restricted to Neotropical region (32 species, last revision was Fluke (1945) but unfortunately he mixed up " Rhysops " and " Melanostoma View in CoL " species. One needs, therefore, to run identifications through both of his keys.)
