Genus Pelloloma Vockeroth View in CoL View at ENA

Pelloloma Vockeroth, 1973: 595 View in CoL . Type, nigrifacies Vockeroth by original designation.

Restricted to Afrotropical region (3 species; last revision by Kassebeer 2000b). Vockeroth (1973: 597) placed his new genus in the tribe Syrphini View in CoL on the basis of the complex male genitalia and strong lateral margin on the abdominal terga. He did acknowledge that the black coloration of the face and scutellum as well as the unsegmented phallus suggested placement among the Melanostomine genera.
