Diagnosis. Differing from I. barbatus Mockford , by the shape of the phallosome and hypandrium, this being square in I. barbatusoides , with a narrow lobe distally in the middle; in the phallosome, the aedeagus is free and Vshaped, and the external parameres are curved inward

Description. Male. Color. Head ( Fig. 72 View FIGURES 70 – 75 ) brown, compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, ocellar group ochre. Thorax brown yellowish, with a brown longitudinal band on each thoracic pleuron. Abdomen creamy, with tenuous brown subcuticular rings. Wings ( Figs 70–71 View FIGURES 70 – 75 ), with a light orange hue, veins light brown.

Morphology. Phallosome ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES 70 – 75 ), with side arms fused anteriorly, diverging, endophallic sclerite as illustrated (pear-shaped when fully rolled into the phallosome) covered with small spicules. Hypandrium ( Fig. 73 View FIGURES 70 – 75 ) broad, concave anteriorly, biconcave posteriorly, with columnar, distally rounded median process. Posterior border of clunium, over the area of the epiproct, with a dense field of papillae. Paraprocts oval, sensory fields with 25 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct wide based, subtriangular, setal fields on paraprocts and epiproct as illustrated ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 70 – 75 ).

Measurements: FW: 2800, HW: 2150, F: 650, T: 975, t1: 400, t2: 100, ctt1: 19, f1: 520, f2: 350, Mx4: 170, IO: 140, D: 220, d: 350, IO/d: 0.4, PO: 1.59.

Female. Color. Same as the male.

Morphology. Epiproct triangular, with a few setae on distal half; paraprocts oval, sensory fields with 17 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Gonapophyses ( Fig. 77 View FIGURES 76 – 79 ), broad, wide proximally, narrowing distally, with setal field on outer border.

Etymology. The specific name refers to the similarity of this species with Isthmopsocus barbatus Mockford (1991) .
