Remarks. Brenske (1898: 355) presented the name Mericserica along with Chrysoserica (in Brenske 1898: unavailable name) in the same couplet. Because there was no further morphological differentiation nor an indication of species included in Mericserica , the generic name was unavailable until Brenske (1899a) properly diagnosed it in a key. The genus was recently revised by Ahrens (2004a) and Ahrens & Fabrizi (2016), however, the genus name was misspelled as Meriserica in these works.
