Type material examined. Lectotype (designated herein) ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–8 ): female, printed label “1. SCAPTESYLE TRICOLOR .” / handwritten label “| Assam | Silhet. | 47–58” / printed label “ Arctiidae | genitalia slide | No. 4617 ♀ |” / printed round label with green ring “Type” / printed QR-code label “ NHMUK010402016 About NHMUK ” ( NHMUK)

Note. Walker (1854) described Scaptesyle tricolor based on two specimens of unknown sex. In order to stabilise the nomenclature, the syntype labelled as “Type” and preserved in NHMUK is hereby designated as the lectotype. Currently this species is only known from Northeastern India and Eastern Bangladesh, and the records from Borneo, Sumatra, Java and Bali ( Hampson 1900; Draudt 1914; Kishida 2019) belong to S. plumosus . The Philippine populations could belong to S. luzonica or S. aphrodite . The records from Burma and Sulawesi ( Hampson 1900; Draudt 1914) require further investigations.
Distribution. Northeastern India and eastern Bangladesh ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 ).
