Recognition characters: Grayish black species; length 7–10 mm; mystax black above, white below; sides of thorax gray pollinose, dorsally brown pollinose, two dorsal black stripes separated by a gray line; scutellum with 2 black bristles on posterior margin; wings hyaline, slightly gray on posterior margin and at apex; abdomen brown pollinose with gray pollinose bands apically; legs, femora black, fore- and mid-tibiae blackish, hind tibiae reddish brown.
Distribution: SWEETWATER: Burnt Fork, 19–26 June ( VMT-BYU). TETON: Biological Station at Moran, Grand Teton National Park, 2,042 m (6,700 ft), 13 Aug. 1962 ( JGE).
Habitat: Sagebrush steppe shrub and grassland vegetation type.
Ethology: Nothing known.
