Diagnosis. The new species is similar to A. chiangmaiensis Saito, 1987 in male genitalia. It can be distinguished by the forewing having a large triangular spot on the outer margin of the cell; and by the juxta with a deep triangular median incision from the posterior margin, straight on the anterior margin in the male genitalia. In A. chiangmaiensis , the forewing has a small streak on the outer margin of the cell; the juxta is not incised on the posterior margin, obtusely rounded on anterior margin ( Saito 1987: 117, figs 2, 4). It is similar to A. basinigra sp. nov. in the forewing pattern and male genitalia, and can be distinguished in the male genitalia by the thumb-shaped socii, the juxta straight on the anterior margin and the lateral lobes of the juxta irregularly dilated. In A. basinigra , the socii are triangular, the juxta arches on the anterior margin and the lateral lobes of the juxta are small triangular.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1‒8 ). Wingspan 19.0‒24.0 mm.

Head white, frons with black scales. Labial palpus yellowish white; basal segment black on outside; second segment black on outside in basal half, mixed with black in distal half, without protruding scales; third segment black before apex ventrally. Antenna with scape yellowish white, dark brown on dorsal surface; flagellum yellow alternated with black.

Mesonotum white, with black spots anteriorly, ochreous posteriorly; tegula ochreous basally, mixed with black medially, white distally. Foreleg with coxa and femur black, femur mixed with yellowish white distally, tibia ochreous mixed with black, white at apex, tarsus white mixed with black at basal tarsomere, rest tarsomeres black except white at apex of each tarsomere and white on apical one tarsomere; midleg with femur black basally, yellowish white distally, tibia black except white at middle and at apex respectively, tarsus black except white at apex of each tarsomere; hindleg with femur white, mixed with black basally, tibia yellow, mixed with black scales dorsally, tarsus yellowish white, mixed with black on outside of basal tarsomere, rest of tarsomeres black except yellowish white at apices.

Forewing reddish brown in basal 3/4, white mixed with greyish brown in distal 1/4; costal margin dark brown, interrupted by many yellow dots; discontinuous black fascia near base, extending from below costal margin to near dorsum, its outer margin greyish white; cell with black spot at basal 2/5 and at basal 3/4, surrounded by yellowish white and greyish brown scales, with a larger black triangular spot on outer margin edged with yellow and reddish brown scales; dorsum with yellowish white and dark brown scales; terminal line black; fringe grey, mixed with greyish white distally, with a yellow basal line. Hindwing and fringe grey except region below basal 4/5 of costal margin white.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 30‒35 ). Uncus reduced. Socii strong, thumb-shaped, setose. Gnathos ovoid, finely spined. Valva wide at base, narrowed to beyond middle, then gradually narrowed to rounded apex, with long setae anteriorly and distally; costa reaching distal 1/4 of costal margin. Transtilla membranous; transtilla lobes membranous, hairy. Sacculus reaching beyond middle of valva; cuiller strong, narrowed distally, apically reaching anterior 1/5 from costa. Juxta with a deep incision medially on posterior margin, straight on anterior margin; lateral lobes membranous, irregularly dilated, reaching before posterior margin of juxta. Phallus tubular, curved distally; cornuti being many fine spinules.

Female unknown.

Distribution. China (Guizhou, Hunan, Yunnan).

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin magni- and macularis, referring to the large black spot on the outer margin of the cell.
