Type locality: Tien-Shan Mts.

Type series: Unknown.

Type host: Ochotona roylei (Ogilby, 1839) the Indian pika.

Host range: A characteristic parasite of rodents of the genus Ochotona (pikas). In south Kazakhstan was found to parasitise the silver mountain mole, Alticola argentatus (Severtzov, 1879) [ Senotrusova 1987].

Distribution: The species was reported from pikas collected in the former Central Asian region of the USSR ( Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan), Iran and in China (Shanxi, Tibet) [ Senotrusova & Kapitonov 1974; Zemskaya et al. 1981; Tenorio 1984; Senotrusova 1987; Huang 1990]. We include it into our check-list on the basis of a single record from Western Siberia (without exact locality) in the catalogue of SZM collection (see http://szmn.eco.nsc.ru/ Inverteb/ Gamasina .htm). Most probably, H. ochotonae occurs in the mountainous regions of South Siberia (Altay Mts, Sayany Mts.) where several species of pikas are distributed ( Gromov & Erbayeva 1995).
