Distribution: E Dem. Rep. Congo, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, S Ethiopia, S Sudan.
Conservation: IUCN / SSC Action Plan (1992) – Not Threatened. IUCN 2003 – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Stenonycteris . Revised by Bergmans (1994), who argued against recognition of subspecies.
