Lectotype (Lassen in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 482. 1997): Herb. Linn. No. 930.42 ( LINN) .

Current name: Trifolium scabrum L. ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Zohary (in Candollea 27: 137. 1972), followed by several later authors, treated unspecified material in Herb. Clifford ( BM) as syntypes. However, the two sheets there associated with this name are not part of a single gathering (so Art. 9.15 does not apply), nor were they explicitly cited by Linnaeus (so they are not syntypes). Lassen’s later choice of material in LINN as lectotype is therefore accepted here.
