Type data: Smith (1874) described this species based on male specimens collected in the Brazilian localities of Belém and “Catagallo”, probably Cantagalo in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The specimen from Belém housed at NHMUK was designated the lectotype by Moure et al. (2007) and it has the following data label: Type H. T. [red-rimmed circular label, printed]\ [light blue circular label] 70 16 [handwritten]\ B.M. TYPE HYM. [print- ed] 17b.1172 [handwritten]\ Centris terminata Smith Type). [handwritten]\ [rectangular label with a blue circle with the word lecto-type [printed] ♂ Lectotype Centris terminata Smith, F., 1874 . Des. Moure, J.S., Melo, G.A. R. & Vivallo, F., 2007 [printed]. The lectotype is in good condition and is coded NHMUK 010812626 in the NHMUK data portal. The current status and depository of the paralectotype from “Catagallo” is unknown.

Type locality: Brazil: Pará state: Belém .
