Meropelopia Roback, 1971 View in CoL
To fully understand this genus, readers are encouraged to note the remarks under the genus Conchapelopia , especially on the historical records of the status of the taxa Meropelopia . The record of Meropelopia flavifrons (Johannsen, 1905) is based on two pupal exuviae collected by Dave Wartinbee from Bull Lake on Kodiak Island ( Roback 1984) and adults collected by a car-top trap near Palmer ( Roback 1971). The records of Meropelopia americana ( Fittkau, 1957) are based on molecular data from specimens collected from the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge by Bowser et al. (2020). We collected 2 unknown larvae from a small lake on Prince of Wales Island in July 2017, and two larvae from a small lake between Naukati and Coffman Cove on Prince of Wales Island in July 2017. Although larvae of this genus are associated with medium-sized streams and rivers, all of our larval collections and the pupal exuviae came from lakes ( Cranston & Epler 2013).
