Prodiamesa Kieffer, 1906 View in CoL
Prodiamesa olivacea (Meigen, 1818) is the only species of this genus from North America. Our specimens come from larvae found in a tributary to Yana Stream northwest of Yakutat, Chester Creek in Anchorage , Deception Creek in the Mat-Su Valley, a tributary to the South Fork Koktuli River in Southwest Alaska, and pupae from a first-order stream on Lena Point north of Juneau in late July. We also collected larvae in August from Auke Lake in Juneau and Crescent Lake east of Juneau. Despite its widespread distribution in the Holarctic, this is a new faunistic record for Alaska. Several studies in the Holarctic indicate the species is bivoltine ( Armitage 1995) .
