Hydrosmittia Ferrington & Saether, 2011 View in CoL
Hydrosmittia ruttneri (Strenzke & Thienemann, 1942) View in CoL is the only species of Hydrosmittia View in CoL recorded from Alaska. Ferrington & Saether (2011) reported on collecting adult and immature specimens from Happy Creek near Happy Valley Camp on the Kenai Peninsula in early July 1976. They also mentioned a specimen from Lake Nerka but provided no details. Most species in Hydrosmittia View in CoL and related groups (i.e., Allocladius View in CoL and Pseudosmittia View in CoL ) are considered semi-aquatic to terrestrial. However, H. ruttneri View in CoL larva is truly aquatic, living on algal-covered rocks in lakes and rivers ( Ferrington & Saether 2011).
