Bowser et al. (2020) reported Xenochironomus xenolabis (Kieffer, 1916) larvae from the Miller and Slikok Creek watersheds on the Kenai Peninsula based on DNA barcoding. This species is an obligate miner of freshwater sponges and bryozoans attached to firm substrates in standing and flowing water ( Epler et al. 2013; Klink 1989).
