holotype)!). Quercus glauca Oerst. non Thunb. (1784), Chênes Amér. Trop. 16, 29, pl. 36 (1869). Distribution : Mexico (Durango, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, México, Michoacán, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa) .

Quercus spicata Bonpl., Pl. Aequinoct. 2: 46, pl. 89 (1809). Type:— MEXICO, Hidalgo: A. Bonpland 4061 (p.p.) (Holotype: P00129694 !; isotypes: B-W!, P!, UCSB (fragment)!). There are four sheets of Bonpland 4061 (p.p.) at P that are isotypes of Q. spicata ( P00129695 !, P00129696 !, P00129697 !, and P00129731 !).

Quercus convallata Trel., Mem. Natl. Acad. Sci. View in CoL 20: 88, pl. 140 (1924). Type :— MEXICO, Nayarit: M. L. Diguet s. n. (Holotype: P00754073 !; isotypes: NY!, P!, UCSB (fragment)!). Although the specimen labels say that this collection is from Jalisco , Sierra de Nayarit ( Territoire Huichol ) , the type locality is actually in Nayarit.

Quercus dugesii (Trel.) View in CoL A. Nelson, Amer. J. Bot. 23(4): 268 (1936). The placement of this species needs additional study, but we consider the type to fall within the variation found within Q. spicata View in CoL as broadly interpreted .

Quercus tinkhamii C.H.Mull., Amer. Midl. Naturalist View in CoL 27(2): 481 (1942). Type:— MEXICO, Nuevo León: F. Shreve & E. R. Tinkham 9686 (Holotype: GH00069874!; isotype: UCSB (fragment from GH holotype)!). The distinction between Q. tinkhamii View in CoL and Q. mohriana View in CoL needs additional study. If Q. tinkhamii View in CoL is included as a synonym of Q. mohriana View in CoL , the distribution of Q. mohriana View in CoL is much broader in Mexico.
