Philhygra botanicarum is newly recorded from British Columbia and Ontario. It was described by Muona (1983) from Finland, then reported in North America
from Newfoundland by Muona (1984). Although Muona (1984) included this species amongst Palaearctic aleocharines occurring in North America, we consider it a Holarctic species. The bionomics of the species are unknown.
