Distribution: Known only from Anhui Prov., China.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II.
Discussion: Originally described as a subspecies of M. moschiferus ; included in M. berezovskii by Groves and Feng (1986); a valid species according to Su et al. (2001), inferred from mtDNA sequences to be the sister taxon of a group including M. chrysogaster , M. fuscus , M. leucogaster , and M. berezovskii .
