Type locality: Shetland 27–33 m (selected by Warén, 1980).

Lectotype: 1 spec., USNM No. 149080 (illustrated in Jeffreys, 1869, British Conchology); other specimens USNM No. 149090, from off Oban, in Jeffreys Collection and collected by Barlee.
