Notes

Species complex. Guerin and Kerambrun (1984) report three forms, on the basis of morphological, ecological and genetic characters. Two of these forms co-exist in the Mediterranean Sea, while the third was found only in the North East Atlantic. Type locality: Mediterranean Sea (Italy).
