Leptestheria mayeti ( Simon, 1885) View in CoL

Records in this study. Dayet Lihodi, Wad Messead, Ikinyawin, Jemot.

Previous records in the Algerian Sahara. Recorded near Laghouat by Blanchard, (1891), Tilremt, Oued Mzab ( Seurat 1930), Tassili N’Ajjer ( Gauthier 1930), and Mouydir ( Gauthier 1933).

Previous records in the Hauts Plateaux and coastal area. Between Laghouat and Djelfa ( Gauthier 1928b), Garaet Timerganine ( Ouahioune Rais 2019), Jemot ( Ouahioune Rais 2019; Beladjal & Amarouayache 2023).

Comments. Previously, this species was divided into two separate species: Leptestheria mayeti and L. cortieri ( Rogers 2020) . Another species, L. heterochaeta Daday, 1923 , is considered a possible junior synonym of L. mayeti according to Rogers (2020). The distribution of L. mayeti in Algeria, extending into the Central Sahara, contrasts with its more northerly distribution in Tunisia ( Marrone et al. 2016).
