Taphura egeri Sanborn, 2011 View in CoL
Taphura egeri Sanborn 2011: 408 View in CoL (type material in FSCA, MNHN, LSAM, NCSU and AFSC).
Type locality. French Guiana, Amazon Nature Lodge , 30 km SE Roura on Kaw Rd., N04° 33.570’ W 052° 12.433’, 300 m. GoogleMaps
Remarks. This is the only species of Taphura to have apical infuscation on the fore wing. The large claspers extend posteriorly and curve medially with the terminus expanding ventrally then dorsally and forming a rounded apex. These extensions quickly distinguish the species.
Distribution. The species is currently only known from the type series collected in French Guiana ( Sanborn 2011). The species is widespread within French Guiana and it is expected that it will found in neighboring countries with further collecting efforts.
